Do the colours of your bollard matter?

It’s one of those questions that crops up from time to time – and to be honest, to some degree it comes down to personal preference. However, the colour of your bollard does serve some useful practical (and a few aesthetic) purposes, so while it might not be your primary consideration when you’re choosing driveway bollards, here are a couple of things to bear in mind.

    Certain colours maximise visibility

Bright colours can help to make your bollard more visible from a distance. That can help prevent drivers from accidentally knocking into them, especially if they’re using your drive to park or turn around (which can be irritating as well as potentially dangerous). It’s particularly helpful if people are driving across your space in the dark, as black bollards can all too easily blend into the night. That doesn’t make them any less secure, but ideally, you’ll want people to avoid knocking into them in the first place!

One of our most popular products are our telescopic driveway security bollards which provide a cost effective and efficient addition to your driveway security. Each bollard comes with a standard galvanised finish, spanning a variety of colours, along with an optional powder coating.

It makes them a more useful deterrent

A highly visible bollard is designed to provide a clear visual deterrent to potential thieves or trespassers, and our bollards are no exception to the rule. A lot of the bollards we provide are striped yellow and black, a universally understood warning sign (you need look no further than the nearest wasp to appreciate its meaning!).

But even if the colour alone isn’t quite enough to get the warning across, each of our driveway bollards is made from a unique blend of iron, steel and specialised plastics which are designed to withstand the force of a car crashing into them. (A not-insignificant level of force!)

Does it fit in with the style of your property?

This can be a big factor to consider, especially if you’re using your bollards on the driveway of your private residence. If you’ve invested a lot in establishing a certain look for your home, ideally you won’t want any element to undercut the design as a whole – even the security features!

That’s why, in addition to our range of vibrant neon finishes, we also supply telescopic bollards with a sleek, discreet outer coating that doesn’t draw too much attention away from the look of your house. Perfect if you’re looking for something a bit less vibrant, something that doesn’t distract from a more traditional or rural layout!

Or perhaps you’re trying to protect your business? No problem! You can take your pick of finishes to match your company colours, creating a consistent impression of your company for staff, visitors and customers alike.

When it comes right down to it, of course, we recognise that you might be more concerned with the capabilities of your bollards than its colour. And rest assured, that’s where we can deliver! Here at Bollard Security, we pride ourselves on providing the best in cost effective, retractable bollards, all designed to be simple to operate and come in a range of heights, diameters and finishes.

Our standard galvanised finishes mean that no matter what the time of day, our bollards are sure to be seen by everybody, regardless of the colour.
